    Accessibility Statement

    Sugar Spun Run Accessibility Statement

    Last updated: October 21st 2020.

    General

Sugar Spun Run strives to ensure that its services are accessible to people with disabilities. Sugar Spun Run has invested and continues to invest a significant amount of resources to help ensure that its website is made easier to use and more accessible for people with disabilities, with the strong belief that every person has the right to live with dignity, equality, comfort and independence.

Hi, Sam here. I am working diligently and continuously to improve the accessibility of my website for people with disabilities. If you find that I am not meeting your requirements in any way, please let me know by sending me a message at Samantha@sugarspunrun.com.

I will make every reasonable effort to make my website as accessible as possible. Please remember that I am not a big business or large corporation, my husband and I own Sugar Spun Run and aim to bring my favorite recipes to your kitchen by sharing recipes here on sugarspunrun.com. I am actively working to make my website as accessible as possible as quickly as I can and ask you to please have a little patience with me.

    Accessibility on SugarSpunRun.com

    Disclaimer

Sugar Spun Run continues its efforts to constantly improve the accessibility of its site and services in the belief that it is our collective moral obligation to allow seamless, accessible and unhindered use also for those of us with disabilities.

While I am working continuously to make all pages and content on sugarspunrun.com fully accessible, it’s possible that some of my content may not yet be fully adapted to the highest accessibility standards. This may be a result of not having found or identified the most appropriate technological solution.

    Areas of Improvement and Timelines

I am aware that there are some areas of my website where I must improve accessibility and I am currently actively working to achieve this.  My goal is that sugarspunrun.com will achieve “Level AA” conformance to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 by January of 2021.

Images: I will update the alt-text of all of my photos to improve the accessibility of all the photos in all of my posts by November 2020. If you have any problems reading any of the photos, please send me a message at Samantha@sugarspunrun.com. Update October 2020, all photos/images have accurate alt-text.

Videos: I have always worked to have accurate closed captions on all of my videos on Sugar Spun Run and as of June 2020 all videos have accurate captions. If you experience any difficulties with my videos, please send me a message at Samantha@sugarspunrun.com. I want to know about it and want to fix any issues.

Favorites: The option I have to “favorite” posts is not up to standard. Please know that I run this option through a plugin and I am in touch with the plugin’s developer to have them improve this feature. If they are not able to improve the feature, I will cease to use this plugin. I will resolve this by January 2021.

Audit: I have hired an expert in the field of website accessibility to do an audit of my website. As of June 15 2020 am currently working with them to learn what changes and improvements can be made to reach accessibility standards on this website. Update October 2020, I am steadily working with a developer to make all needed changes.

IMPORTANT NOTE: As of June 17th 2020 I have hired a website developer who specializes in ADA compliance to help me completely re-design my website to make it as accessible as I possibly can. While I wish this process could be as quick and simple as pressing a button, unfortunately there is a lot of underlying work that needs to be done to make my website perform as seamlessly as possible, and the initial estimation for the job is that it will take approximately 12 weeks. We’re working as quickly as possible and sincerely appreciate your patience, please e-mail me at Samantha@sugarspunrun.com and let me know if there is anything that I can do to help in the meantime! Update October 2020, I have had to switch developers but the project to make the website as accessible as possible is ongoing. It is a huge time investment but I am committed to making my website as compliant as I am able to!
