I too used a 9″ cake pans, but left recipe the same and it turned out great! I did cook cakes approx 31 minutes, so a bit less. Made it for my husband’s birthday at his request and everyone LOVED it. It takes a long time to make, but thought it was worth the work. LOVE that you list the ingredients after each step so you don’t have to keep going back up to the recipe and the video was also helpful.

This was absolutely delicious. It does taste just like the Ding Dongs, King Dongs, or King Dons (all the same). I would eat boxes of those when I was younger.
I used a 9″ cake pan but used 1 1/2 recipe except for the frosting. It came out perfect. I will be making this for sure! Thanks for the recipe

Incredible, outstanding, delicious, simply perfect. The chocolate cake is moist and dense and rich. The creamy middle is sweet, thick, and the perfect complement to the chocolate cake. Lastly, the chocolate ganache literally the icing on the cake. If you are a chocaholic, this is your addiction fix. This will be a cake that I will make for the rest of my life.

I made this for my son’s 5th birthday yesterday and wow! This chocolate cake is perfection. I have made many chocolate cake recipes and this is the best! Sooo moist but still light. I used espresso powder and hot water in place of the hot coffee. Love the ermine frosting/filling as well! This is my go to chocolate cake recipe from now on! Thanks!!

Made this for my 13 year old son’s birthday today. It is absolutely divine! I’m not a huge chocolate lover, but this is incredible! Ermine frosting is my favorite. The cake was moist, both the filling and the ganache frosting were silky smooth. Perfection! My son was very happy.
