Sam, I can’t say enough about your recipes. I have made several of your soup recipes and not once have I been disappointed. This one is no exception. This is just what I needed! I will say that I made one addition. I added 8 ounces of shredded pepperjack cheese and if you’ve ever watched Friends, “Oh… My… GAWD”. So amazing. Thank you for delivering once again. My family thanks you as well!

Just as wonderful as it was last year. Instead of half and half, I used 12 oz evaporated milk, and 4 oz heavy cream. That worked very well. I added the smoked paprika before the flour, so it could toast in the oil a bit. I noticed that you have the flour listed in the ingredients before the garlic, but it is added after the garlic. I used the very small Yukon gold potatoes, because they have the tenderest skins. After adding the corn, I scraped the cobs with the back of the knife, to get the corn “milk”, for more corn flavor. This will definitely always be the recipe I use. The red bell pepper adds a nice touch, and the Poblano pepper just contributes to the overall flavor, rather than being distinct. Great soup!

In reply to Sam.

Made this today and it turned out great! After tasting, I did more than triple the salt, pepper and smoked paprika, but I like a lot of seasoning, so thatโ€™s just me. Thanks for another great recipe! I also have a request, how about a black forest cake recipe??

My family raved about this delicious corn chowder. Used our local sweet white corn. Everyone wants more for lunch tomorrow!

This is my new favorite soup! It turned out perfectly. I did not use bacon. My whole family devoured it! Thanks for the delicious recipe.

Great soup! I added about 1/2 cup of whipping cream instead of the half and half. That was fine, so I didnโ€™t have to open another container. I cooked the onion and peppers very slowly, while I prepared the corn. That worked very well.

Hi Derek! I honestly haven’t tried it, but I would definitely give it a shot. My only concern is the half and half could potentially separate but I’m not sure so it’s definitely worth a try. Let me know how it goes. ๐Ÿ™‚

This sounds like a great dish…
Can tghe chowder be frozen once cooked? I’m a single, and while I could mess around with ingredient measures, I would like to make a full batch and save the leftovers for another meal…

Hi Priscilla! You can use heavy cream here, the soup will just be a little bit thicker and richer, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have read that if the cobs sans kernals are boiled, it will result in more corn flavor in a recipe. Have you tried this in your recipe?
I am definitely going to make this, since corn is my favorite vegetable. Thank you for this recipe!
Pat

Had to change it around a bit due to hubbyโ€™s allergies to onions. Added cut up carrots and green pepper and left over mashed potatoes. It was really good! A good change from regular potato soup.

Thank you so much, Bruce! I am so glad you enjoyed it so much! It can be harder for me to branch away from desserts because that’s what I really love, but it’s necessary every now and then. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m so glad you don’t limit yourself to desserts, because this soup is excellent. In case anyone is afraid of the smoked paprika, it is just there to complement the smoky bacon. You definitely don’t taste it separately. The flavors in the soup are beautifully integrated, and the texture is wonderfully creamy. Good job, Sam!
